Trades & Rumours:

From Spectorshockey.net:

  • Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli “has made it no secret he’d like to acquire another veteran defenseman via trade”. Harris reports of “whispers” Chiarelli might be interested in a major deal for a number one defenseman, although such a move could cost him one or more of their top forwards, although they do have depth and “substantial upside” with several promising young players up front.

  • Jean Lefebvre reports that when Flames blueliner Adrian Aucoin looks around the dressing room and sees ” eight one-way contracts worth a total of $25 million, he realizes something has to give.” Aucoin admits he’s heard the trade rumors about himself but finds them enjoyable.
  • Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic dismisses talk that this season could be his last.”Who said this is my last year? I won’t evaluate until the season is over”, said Sakic.
  • Petr Nedved admits his NHL career is likely over after being cut by the NY Rangers this past week. He has a contract to play for his hometown team in the Czech Extraliga.
  • Ottawa Senators have signed defenseman Luke Richardson to a one-year, two-way contract.

Down 2-0 – Stars need to re-focus

Posted by admin on 12th, 2008

For the Dallas Stars, Christmas came early today when they found out their star center, Mike Ribeiro got off without a Suspension after his swing against Chris Osgood in game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Then again… the same could be said about the Detroit Red Wings.  The swing that got so many people talking came directly after an extremely dangerous play by Chris Osgood that saw the butt end of his goalie stick “accidentally” collide with the face of Ribeiro.

“He actually tries to do it. It’s not like he accidentally hit me,” Ribeiro said, defending himself Sunday after not being around for postgame interviews. “He kind of was bent down, raised up and clipped me in the face.”

Both players ended up with fines, which given the alternative, is not so bad.

Going into game 3 later today, both teams will need to focus on their games.  This applies more so to the Dallas Stars, so are trailing 2-0 in the series against a team that has shown itself to be bigger, faster and stronger after 2 games.

That’s not to say the Stars are smaller, slower or weaker however.  In fact, the Stars have not been on their game in the first 2 games.  Being at home for game 3 might be the wake up call the team needs.

Game 3 in the series is today at 8:00 pm EDT.

34 New Videos Added Today

Total Videos: 1435 (in 18 categories)

Today we have 3 featured videos to share with you. The first is an instructional video out of Sweden instructing people how to be a referee in the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation. It is an interesting video to watch if you ever had thoughts of becoming a referee. Next we have a video where members of the Vancouver Canucks are asked what their least favorite type of music is. You’d be suprised at some of the answers. Last, but not least we have Evgeni Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks scoring his first goal as an NHL goalie. True skill at work.

The Ultimate Ryan Kesler Tribute 2008
This is a video I made about my favorite hockey player from the Vancouver Canucks, Ryan Kesler. Ever since he got drafted in 2003 and suited up for his first nhl game I’ve supported him and he was one of the most exciting players to watch for me. He was my favorite player since he was 20. I can finally make a mix about him because he is starting to come out of his shell and pot some goals. So here is my tribute to Ryan Kesler, hope you enjoy, and comment
