Just 5 minutes until puck drop in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Detroit Red Wings are looking for the win that will give them the Cup. The Penguins trying to force a series deciding game 7.
Keys to the game:
M.A. Fleury repeating his stellar performance that helped win game 6. If he can, the Penguins can make a game of this.
Pittsburgh need to shut down the Red Wings top line. If Zetterberg and Datsyuk are free to skate on open ice they will do damage. The Penguins need to shut that line down.
Evgeni Malkin. He was quiet in most games of this series, but got the assist on Sykoras game winner in game 6. If Malkin can get on a roll, he could be the difference maker.
That quote from Mike Richards really sums up how the entire Philadelphia Flyers team are feeling right now. After dropping game 2 against the cross state rivals, Pittsburgh Penguins, the Flyers now go in to game 3 under pressure not just to perform, but to come up with a victory.
“We’ve played in a Game 7 where if you lose, you go home,” said goalie Martin Biron, who made 34 saves. “Game 3 isn’t like that, but it’s as close as it’s going to get. I think we played pretty good, but we can play better. … It’s all about desperation and urgency.”
Game 3 between the 2 teams will be on Tue, May 13 - 7:30 pm EDT. (TV: VS., CBC)
Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals fought hard and took the Flyers to overtime, but it wasn’t enough, and fell in overtime off a goal from Joffrey Lupul. The Philadelpia Flyers now have a 2nd round matchup with the Montreal Canadiens.
